Have to comment on this article https://worldcouncilforhealth.substack.com/p/why-we-must-stop-5g? This WHC article is correct in identifying problems with the mmwaves in what is erroneously called 5G by many, the concern I have is”5G” is bigger than just mmwaves, there are serious health and quality of life issues with all radiation . “5G” should not be deployed anywhere as it also will cause an increase in the concentration of radio frequencies across a broader spectrum and an increase in intensity causing not only more problems in quality of life for those that suffer from Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) but also more health problems. EHS is recognised by the UN as an environmental sensitivity - a disability that is to be accommodated, according to the UN Charter of Human Rights.
5G is not a technical term and itself is meaningless, it is a marketing term.
what 5G is a short hand reference to a number of "new" protocols wrapped up into a single cell phone standard. What is called 5G is different than "4g" LTE etc or the previous generation of Cell phones is the new standard uses up to 5 frequencies (in addition bluetooth, GPS and wireless) previous generations only have 1 frequency. The 5G better called new radio (NR) frequencies are spread over low band (600 MHz to 1 GHz) these frequencies penetrate solid objects including concrete better but carry smaller amount of data, mid band ((1-10GHz) and high band or mmwave (25 GHz and above). As the frequency increases/wave length decreases the ability of the waves to penetrate goes down and the data carrying ability goes up. The breakdown of what frequencies belong in each group varies from Country to country a bit. The $10 word to use when talking about frequencies is spectrum as in Spectrum Canada is the government department responsible for allocating frequencies usually by auction (in their last auction of just the 3.5 GHz part of spectrum raised 7.2 billion in Canada). They have had several delayed starts in their auction for the high band or mmwave portion of spectrum in Canada and the Telcos have said they do not want mmwaves at this time in Canada, can not afford it and there is no need for it. There are a few mmwave experimental sites in Canada but no mmwave ready devices in Canada, unless the higher speed (basically low impedance allowing for more realtime data) of mmwave is required for self driving cars it is doubtful mmwave will be available in Canada for the foreseeable future.
