Norm here, yes, another Norm here – this one from BC. Like thousands of workers across Canada and unfortunately through out the world, I too have had my WCB (In BC called WorksafeBC) denied. Not for legitimate reasons but for created reasons that would not stand any test in a normal legal system. My injury a massive amount of electromagnetic radiation (an estimated 400 times the amount a cell phone radiates in normal use). It caused a massive brain tumour on the left side of my head – exactly where I received the radiation. I was working for the provincial government and neither them nor our local WCB have investigated the claim. Seems they feel why bother doing as is required by legislation worth it when just denying the claim with no knowledge of the incident is so much easier.

Some of us have had our claims denied without just causes. Others with concerns have been required to go back to work while injured and further injuring themselves – one case of a personal friend of mine, it has caused a marriage breakup, but what does WorksafeBC care when they can push the costs and support of the injured worker onto the social welfare system.

These are only 2 examples of what could as Norman Traversy refers to as fraudulent insurance practises.

In Canada all our WCB organisations were born out of Meredith report tabled in Ontario in 1913.

This report became the foundation for WCB’s across Canada and around the world and the “Meredith Principals” the guiding philosophy. https://www.wscc.nt.ca/about-wscc/meredith-principles

Part of the “Meredith guidance” was remove lawyers from the process and decide cases based on the facts. For this workers lost their right to sue the employer, and the WCB’s set up their quasi judicial system, I am being charitable when I refer to it as quasi, even calling it a bizarre kangaroo court dreamt up in the bowels of Alice's Wonderland and bears little if any resemblance to what a normal person would think describes a court system.

Injured workers across Canada are banding together to take their respective WCB’s to court. The battle is a very unfair and weighted in favour of the WCB’s who have all the resources, which in many cases where accumulated literally on the backs of injured workers unjustly denied their back injury claims and other injuries. On the otherside are the injured workers denied funds and often destitute. We are asking people to support and help us acquire the funds to fund a private investigator as we bring forth our challenge. If you or you know someone that has been injured at work and had their claim denied please contact me news@independenttv.ca . The public at large needs to learn injured workers are not looked after properly and often have their injures and claims trampled on by WCB in their pursuit of profits over legally required support of injured workers.

No one intends to be injured at work, but the next time you go to work it could be you, a family member, other loved one, friend or neighbour. The WCB’s need to be taken back to their original intention of no fault compensating an injured worker for their injury. Despite what many think WCB’s in Canada are not insurance companies and are not for profit of the shareholder companies- their first responsibility is to injured workers.
